Blues are still moving in and out on the surf with a few bass mixed in. We have fresh clams, bunker, mullet and sandworms as well as an assortment of frozen bait for your fishing needs.
Crabbing actually picked up a little on the dock and one of our rental boats came back with over 40 yesterday. There are also plenty of snappers being caught on spearing and small metals. A few kingfish and spike weakfish were also caught from the dock.
Once again the report sounds the same, small blues on mullet, short to keeper size bass on teasers and small swimmers. We are all waiting for the fall run to start, the problem is most anglers instead of getting out there and checking things out for themselves are sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. Not good! John Yac
Another great fishing day! Light NE winds and a rising AM tide plus pleanty of mullet on their fall migration gives you a great reason to be on the beach. Small to medium size blues have been hot on the mullet’s trail making for some great light tackle action. Small poppers and metal is always a great choice. Short to keeper size bass have been showing up now and then to get in on the action, in their case a teaser fished in front of the lure or your choice seems to be doing the trick. Remember our surf rod and wooden plug sale is in progress, so now is a great time to get that new surf rod and add some hard to find wooden plugs at great prices while they last to your plug bag! One of the Dock Outfitters long time icons passed away last evening, Phil G. will be missed not only by the crew but by the many customers his path has crossed in the many years he has been part of the store. Rest in peace Phil and I’m sure every fish will be a keeper. The fishing on our ocean beaches remains the same, small blues and a few small to keeper size bass mixed in. John Yac
Fluke no more! Well fluke season is over for another year and we sure had some nice catches in the closing days something to think about till next season. As for fishing right now small blues are feeding on the large schools of mullet that are along our beaches. Small to med size poppers and metal fished with teasers seem to be doing the trick. We are hearing of more and more keeper bass being caught a sure sign that the fall run is just around the corner. Along with our in store surf rod sale we are sweetning the pot with all wooden plugs in stock 25% off!! Gibbs, Danny’s, Tattoo, Salty’s, Bodega Bay etc.
Last chance to cash in on some great tasting fillets! Today is the last day of fluke season so why not try to put a few in the freezer. Bucktail jigs tipped with gulp or squid will do the trick, even the old squid spearing on a fluke hook draged slowly on the bottom will produce. We had a nice 35″ bass come in yesterday from Seaside Park cought on a mullet rig! More and more bass are being taken each day now on a verity of lures although most are shorts. What ever lure you do choose make sure you fish a teaser above it. John Yac
Some nice fluke were caught on the surf yesterday with bucktail and teaser tipped with gulp. There are also blues popping up.
The dock continues to produce a nice catch of snappers as well as a few kingfish. We have fresh clams, bunker, sandworms and an assortment of frozen baits for your fishing needs.
Small blues still lead the bite on our beaches right now, they just can’t resist chasing and feeding on those schools of mullet. Still some nice size keeper fluke in the mix. Stripped bass although mostly shorts are taking small swimmers, teasers and clams. Crabbing in the bay is tuff, some catches are being reported in the Ortley, Lavallette areas. Our surf rod sale is still going on with some great prices on some top quality rods.
The last few days of the fluke season seems to be going out with a bang judging from the nice size fish coming out of IBSP. If fluke is your thing don’t waste any time you only have till Tuesday the 24th to get in on the action. The mullet run is in full swing with blue fish hot on their heels. There has been several small bass taken along with a few keepers, most of the bass have been taken on teasers fished ahead of the metal of your choice. We have custom tied teaser rigs in the shop and don’t forget to check out our 10% to 20% off premium surf rod sale just in time for the fall run. John Yac
Mixed bag on the beach right now! Small striped bass, small to med sized blues and a good share of keeper fluke. There also is pleanty of bait out there, mullet and sand eels seem to be topping the list.
