Fishing Report

It seems the only thing biting in the surf right now are fluke. These great tasting flatties are falling to bucktail gulp combos fished with a teaser above. This method is by no means the only way to score on these fluke. Live killies fished with squid strips or killies fished alone are also good producers. Be creative with your presentations and keep your baits moving at all time… John Yac

All quiet on the surf front yesterday! It’s partly due to lack of interest caused by the lower numbers of catchable game fish for this time of year. Our dock out back was loaded with wood bee crabbers picking away at some nice keeper crabs, not a ton by any means, but crabs for the table never the less. “LIVE KILLIES” are finally in, we have a supplier now who will keep us supplied during these scarce times… John Yac

Fishing Report

Bluefish and fluke seems to be the bite right now in the surf. Not a ton of fish by any means, but a occasional ben in the rod is always nice. Cut bunker is luring the blues to take the hook while bucktail gulp combos are accounting for the flatties taken. Crabbing is definitely getting hot in the bay. Crabbing from a boat, if you can, gives you the opportunity of hitting several spots with little to no effort compared to shore bound crabbers… John Yac

Crabbing in the bay is definitely on the up swing! A couple of our rental boats have been coming in with impressive catches of nice size keeper crabs. The surf bite has been slow with small blues and small fluke being taken when present. Night time shark fishing in the surf has been gaining interest by the day, for the summer night tides bring those eating machines within casting range. The first you hook up your hooked!

Fishing Report

Crabbers out on the dock yesterday picked away at some nice keeper crabs, while a few small blues were taken by those fishing cut baits on the bottom. With the warmer sunny weather today more keeper crabs may be on the move. The interest in surf fishing is taking on a summer mindset with first and last light being the most desirable times to fish. The night time shark fishing is gaining interest with some nice tackle straining brutes already taken. We added a old time favorite doormat fluke bait to our frozen bait list (Peruvian Smelts), a true favorite of those seeking trophy size fluke… John Yac

The crabs finally hit the dock yesterday! Catches of up to a dozen nice keepers were taken by several crabbers yesterday out back off our dock. We also pulled a couple of our nearby overnight traps and they also had a nice bunch of keepers inside. The surf bite was slow yesterday with a few short bass and small blues taking small swimmers and small poppers. Fluking was also a pick at best… John Yac

Happy Summer! Kinda slow yesterday both out front in the surf and out back in the bay. Word of a few nice flatties on bucktail gulp combos in the wash was going around. One luckey crabber out back on our dock put together about a dozen keeper crabs for his efforts… John Yac

Tomorrow June 21st at 6:07 AM will mark the official start of summer. It’s been a crazy spring for sure. The bass run has been hot and cold to say the least with the spring run of big blues also lacking it’s usual numbers. Fluke fishing got off to a pretty good start this season with some nice big flatties being taken from the surf and boat alike. Crabbing in our area is slow starting this year but north and south of us it is already in high gear. The pick of small to medium size blues continues out back off our dock, on cut baits mostly… John Yac

Fishing Report

There’s still a few quality bass out there for those surf guys willing to put in some time. IBSP gave up another quality bass yesterday. A 30 plus lb. fish fell to a bunker chunk in the surf. Add to that some blues and a few fluke and that rounds off the days catch. Not bad at all for a dreaded south wind day. Crabbing out back remains a slow pick to say the least and the dock is still giving up some nice bluefish on cut baits… John Yac

Happy Father’s Day! To all the great dads out there, this is our day. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who got their children into this great sport of ours, for in them I future lies. Medium size blues invaded our dock last night and the bite is still going on this morning. A nice little father’s day gift for those who enjoy catching these scrappy fellows… John Yac
