Well i just walked in to the shop and instantly had fish to weigh in. The guys had bluefish up to 13lbs from Normandy beach. The guys were getting them on metal. They also said there was albacore busting all over the place on rainfish. You wanna target the albacore with small metals such as 007 avas 1 oz crippled hering or small deadly dicks. I fished on the casino pier yesterday and the fishing was incredible. There was so many hickory shad and weakfish it was fish after fish for hours. We were using a 3/4 long deadly dick with a sibiki rig or small ava and the sabiki. It was awesome light tackle action. All the fish from the north seem to be heading to the south today as the guys chased them. I expect to hear more from a good source this afternoon so ill let you know as soon as i do. Scott
Well the south wind has picked up pretty good this afternoon but the morning wasnt bad. First i know they had small blues on metals in the brick beach area this morning. The seem to be pretty consistant now. A thinner profile seems to be doing the trick. James was out fishing on the kayak this morning out front the casino pier area and put together a catch of bluefish weakfish shad sea bass croakers and out of season fluke all on bait. I know the best chance for a bass now is still in low light hours with more keepers then you would think taken so far. Scott
Well fishing is getting better everyday. Yesterday produced loads and loads of fluke at the manasquan inlet. Plenty of keepers to 6 1/2 lbs. The hot ticket as usual was a bucktail tipped with gulp!. Bluefish action was great yesterday on island beach from Gilikins to area 7 with the fish being caught on metals and mullet. The casino pier was also hot with some nice fluke and weakfish being caught again with plenty of bait around. Tons of snappers and spearing fill the waters around the pier. Watch for the mullet to start to show as well….. Scott
Well things on the ocean side seem to be doing good today. Early this morning bass to 30inches and small blue fish were feeding on sandeels in Ortley beach. The few anglers that were there managed to land fish on avas and teaser rigs. Also i received a picture this morning of a 7lb fluke taken on the casino pier . Crabbing has picked back up with a good amount of keepers being caught on the rental boats today. Snappers continue to be caught off the dock on spearing. Scott
Well after all the lousy weather earlier in the week there isnt too much to talk about. The crabbing remains good and there are still plenty of snappers around. Fluke fishing remains good in the bay and on the surf. Some blowfish are being caught between the bi and bb bouy but heavy chumming is required. We have the new line of G Loomis surf rods in ranging from 8ft to 8 10. We also still have 2 Malibu Stealth 12s in stock so come on down and make a deal and get a steal. Scott
Crabbing on the boats and pier continues to be steady. The snappers are abundant around the dock area eating spearing. The fluke are still thick close to the inlets inside and out. Cocktail blues are coming in and out in the surf on island beach also. The sharking at night from the surf is hit or miss. Fresh bunker chunks or squid is being used. Fluke fishing in the surf is steady with keepers being caught on bucktails and gulp!. I fished the casino fishing pier yesterday afternoon and there were plenty of keeper fluke hitting the deck and tons of shorts also. They fell for bucktail and teaser rigs with white gulp. As it got dark and the lights came on the rainfish piled in under the lights. Not too much later spike weakfish snapper blues and hickory shad were on them. We were able to catch them on sabiki rigs with small metals on the bottom. Scott
Crabbing on the rental boats continues to be hot hot hot!! Everyone is coming back with dozens of crabs everyday. Get em while you still can. We also have in the brand new line of g loomis surf rods that are state of the art. Scott
Crabbing out on the rental boats continues to be great. 4-5 dozen are common catches now. There are plenty of snappers to be caught off the dock on spearing or tiny metals. Fluke fishing is great in the manasquan river and inside both inlets. The bottom is paved with flatties. It seems the shark fishing off the beach has slowed a little bit with the water temps dropping but it should heat up again very soon. Tuna fishing in and around the hudson canyon is still on fire with yellowfin white marlin and blue marlin being caught regularly. There are also small bluefin tuna around the chicken canyon area.
The bay is loaded with snapper blues and crabs. My sons fished by the bridge and caught 30 snappers in just over an hour. All fish were caught on spearing.
Well even in the hard south wind Fish Guts Charter service managed to beat em up again today. Capt. Rob and his dad that were the only ones that sailed today and put a limit of sea bass to 4lbs and tog to 6lbs in the box. Crabbing continues to be doing great out on the rental boats. The average today was 5 dozen. Snappers continue to attack spearing fished on snapper sapper rigs off the dock. There are also some small fluke being caught off the dock as well. The beach fishing seemed to be on the slow side this week but there are still brown sharks being caught. Scott
Crabbing continues to be great out on the rental boats. 3/4 of a bushel are common. There are plenty of snappers being caught off the dock on spearing to keep the kids busy. Fluke fishing continues to be doing really well. The north jetty Manasquan and Barnaget inlets the Casino fishing pier and back bay areas are great close spots to try. We have all the fluke baits in stock including live killies spearing three different kinds of squid sand eels and plenty of gulp. Fish guts charters continues to hammer the sea bass and blackfish now as well. The yellowfin and white marlin bite continues to be great out at the hudson canyon. The technique out there seems to be trolling spreader bars and rigged ballyhoo but i also heard the chunking bite was hot 2 days ago there. Scott
Crabbing on the rental boats has been on fire!! Everyone is getting loads of crabs and they are mostly all monsters! The rental boats are only $90 for the day and $65 for 4 hours. Fluking inside both inlets is still doing great. I got to get out this morning and fished inside of manasquan and had 29 fish in 3 hours with 3 keepers. All the fish were taken on Gulp!! Plenty of brown sharks are being caught on the sand mostly all taken on fresh bunker chunks. As a reminder blackfish season reopened but the limit is only 1 fish. Scott
Well capt birch from fish guts charters just came in. He managed to put still put together a limit of seabass despite the hard south wind. Capt Birch also said he clobbered the fluke again inside the inlet. He said they were so aggresive again you could catch them on a shoe lace. Scott
We will be holding a boating safety course later next week. Call 732-687-9497 for more info.
Well the fluke fishing in the manasquan inlet was great today. There were tons of shorts caught and a few keepers as well. The baits of choice were gulp! and killies. The northeast wind is blowing nice out here and the ocean is churned up nice. There is alot of grass in the water though. As the news man states there are sharks out there now. It is the Atlantic ocean after all and it is summer. You can tell they arent here much lol. Scott
