The fish are still willing so why aren’t you? Reports from the dedicated surf guys, who never say die was, a lot of fish in close yesterday chasing ava’s with teasers and even SP style swimmers. These fish were at their feet and were from 12″ to 26″ and almost as round as they are long. They may not be keepers but fun to catch never the less especially on lighter tackle… John Yac
You can thank the sand eels for the late season bass action. The bite continues with short to keeper bass chasing Ava’s with teasers out front. How long this action will continue no one knows. Will the sand eels disappear taking the bass with them, or will the surf guys cave in to the cold air temps and inclement weather? My guess is the surf guys will give up first! Judging by the amount of anglers coming into the shop now, many have put their surf gear away for another season. We will be cutting our hours of operation in the shop to Wednesday thru Sunday 6AM to 6PM. I will keep you posted on any future changes… John Yac
The beat goes on!! Short bass chasing sand eels is the word on the beach right now. Ava’s, Deadly Dicks, needle fish or just about anything that resembles a sand eel is getting attention from these fall migrating bass. Sweeten the pot with a teaser up front and your in business. The occasional keeper bass in the 28 to 32 inch class is showing up in increasing numbers keeping many anglers in the game. These fish are spread out from Manasquan Inlet to Barnegat Inlet, so pick your favorite location and hit the beach! Good Luck!… John Yac
Outstanding bite in our area yesterday of short to the occasional keeper bass in the surf. These fish were taking just about anything resembling a sand eel. One of our customers reported a record day, 34 fish including two 28 inch plus fish, all were released. His hot lure was a SavageAR sand eel that the bass just couldn’t pass up. If your looking for some late season bass action in the surf, now is the time!… John Yac
The bite of 18 to 26 inch bass continued yesterday. These fish remain on sand eels a bait that doesn’t move fast so once you locate the bait the fish will be in front of you for awhile. Needless to say the metal and teaser combo remains on fire, with all green and all black being the go to teaser colors. There is still a good body of fish to our north, so the bite in our area should go well into December… John Yac
The bass were playing hide and seek yesterday with the few anglers trying to hook up with some fall run fish. Moving around was the ticket yesterday for hooking up. There were no real bird activity to tip off their location and the water was stained adding to the difficulty in locating fish. But when you happened to place your presentation in the right spot bingo! Hook ups were frequent on a bunch of short bass up to 26 inches. Stick to metals, Ava’s, Deadly Dicks etc. and don’t forget that teaser up front!… John Yac

There was some good action in the surf yesterday from Seaside Park right through IBSP. Small bass up to 26″ made up the bulk of the action, but the occasional keeper was also mixed in. Metal with teasers out front took first prize in lure selection, while SP minnows also scored but was a distant second. Taking up the rear was rubber sand eel imitations fished on a jig or in the teaser position. The west winds in the forecast for today should make the surf comfortable to fish… John Yac
We finely had a decent bite of bass yesterday in IBSP. Conditions were good, plenty of bait in close with birds working on them making it easy to spot the fish! There were those 24 to 26 inch fish as always, but fish up to 38 inches were also mixed in! Artificial lures led the way yesterday but the bait guys were also getting into some of the action. The weekend weather looks great and with all the bait around things should only improve. So get off that couch and head to the beach, the clock is ticking on the fall run in our area. While you are in the area, stop by the shop and take advantage of our great Black Friday Sales which will last till closing on Sunday… John Yac

Fishing remains a slow pick of short bass with the occasional keeper in the surf both on bait and artificials alike… John Yac
Yesterday afternoon saw a increase in the bass bite in the surf. More anglers were hooking up and a few lucky ones had fish in the 30″ inch range. Most of the larger bass were taken on cut bunker, while clams were also producing fish, cut bunker was the go to bait of the day. Thin metals fished with teasers produced their share but these fish were mostly shorts. Thanksgiving Day, The Dock Outfitters and it’s Water Side Café will be open. Tackle shop house will be 6AM to 1PM and the café will serve our delicious breakfast specials from 7AM to 12 Noon… John Yac
